The competition regulations
- The Award is for a design not for the garden itself. Awards are given
towards the development of the idea.
- Each category has two Awards of £500 each: one for primary and one
for secondary schools.
- Entries are to be submitted using information technology only. Any method
can be used e.g. website, CD-Rom, floppy disc, video. We regret that entries
cannot be returned. Entries should be made using the online
form and backed up by a copy of the form, along with with discs/videos,
sent to the REEP office.
- Entrants must agree for their work to be displayed on the REEP website unless an exception is agreed in writing.
- Only one entry is allowed per school.
- Schools which have designed a garden during the last year may enter
it, providing they can show
a) how the garden fits within the categories and spirit of the Awards
Scheme;
b) how further development will take place as a result of an Award.
- There is no size constraint in the garden design. Whether it is a
tiny patch in an inner city or a large rural area, credit will be given
for imaginative use of the space and each entry seen in the light of
its own constraints and possibilities.
- Schools may only enter one category.
- If REEP believes that an entry would be more appropriate and stand
a better chance in a different category, we reserve the right to re-enter
that entry.
- Opportunities are given in the entry form for schools to comment
on their entries, including the thinking behind the garden, the process
of designing it and the proposed way of realising it. Schools will also
be asked to show what RE and cross-curricular links have been / will
be used in their garden projects and how the school and other communities
have been involved.
- The closing date for awards is 31st May
2003.
Entries must reach REEP by this date.
- Award winners will be notified by the end of
June. A full list will be published on the Awards website.
- The Awards Ceremony will be held at Wimpole Hall and Home Farm, Cambridgeshire,
in September. See the National Trust website for information about Wimpole
Hall.
- The ACE Award holder for the 'Working with an Artist' category will
also be invited to the ACE Awards at the Royal Society of Arts in London,
on November 26th 2003, to show progress on their work.
