The Ecologist

The Ecologist magazine has marked the millennium with an exciting special issue: THE COSMIC COVENANT Re-embedding Religion in Society, Nature and the Cosmos.

The Ecologist Volume 30 No.1 Jan/Feb 2000 - Cover

Key Stage 5 students and teachers, as well as some of the more interested Key Stage 4 students, will find a wealth of material to prompt discussion and interest. The wonderful illustrations enhance articles which describe the many way in which religion and the environment are - and always have been - seen as inter-twined in the fabric of our being. The cover, showing the Great Pavement of Westminster Abbey, is a potential subject for a lesson all in itself.

Articles come from many faith traditions. Subjects include, to name but a few, a look at the Jewish Apocrypha, Sacred Cosmology in the Christian Tradition, the example of the African church and the Spiritual and Religious Background of the Environmental Crisis.

This important publication will be referred to in the material for secondary schools elsewhere on this site. In the meantime, at only £3.00 it is an enjoyable and stimulating way to enlarge your vision.
