Teaching about Science and Religion - Cover

Opportunities within Science in the National Curriculum

Michael Poole, Culham College Institute, 1998 ISBN 0 907957 54 4

This small book by Michael Poole, Visiting Lecturer at King's College London, is a masterly analysis of the issues in Science and RE that affect science teachers and students training for science teaching. Closely written with reference to the general requirements of the Education Reform Act (1988), Ofsted inspection requirements, the current emphasis on mission statements and Science in the National Curriculum, the book identifies activities which help raise and explore science-and-religion issues, and looks at technical issues like assessment.

RE teachers, in particular those with limited scientific background, will find this book an invaluable guide. Although it is simply produced and does not have visual illustrations, it is full of helpful ideas and guidance.

Copies, price £5.00 can be obtained from Culham Institute.
