Many
within the church see any sympathy for or interest in New Age and
other new religions as akin to demon worship. They may even include
the wizardry in Harry Potter under this heading.
Although it's true there are some avowed anti-Christian pagans,
provocatively calling themselves Satanists, do such people really
typify most 'new age' sympathizers? Maybe most people are genuine
seekers after truth. Maybe the church has not provided answers to
their questions. How far does the church provide a home and a voice
for dissenters from conventional consumerist society?

To hear one contemporary 'new age' voice, you could visit the
site of Arthur Pendragon, an ex-Hell's Angel who, as a druid,
devotes his time to non-violent environmental protests
| He
has no job, but he doesn't take any money from the state either,
only from supporters who want to give. He lives a wandering
life (though he does own a caravan in Glastonbury)
In
fact, his life style is very close to that of the early church
apostles! |
